How currency strength is calculated
For each currency, Pipnotic takes every tracked pair that contains it and averages the pairs' percentage moves over a lookback: 24 bars on H1, 40 bars on H4, 60 bars on D1, 26 bars on W1. A move counts as positive when the currency is the base of the pair and negative when it is the quote, so a currency that has gained against everything ranks first.
The D1 percentile places today's reading against that currency's own past daily readings: the 95th percentile means stronger than 95% of its history. It shows when a reading is unusual for that currency, not just top of today's list.
The same pairs make up each currency index, so the strongest currency here is usually the index that has risen most over the lookback. Pairs whose two currencies sit far apart in the ranking are where the strongest meets the weakest.
